handmades inspiration getting started about contact

"Custom home decorating is scary" is one of the most frequent comments I hear from a new client on our first phone call. "I don't know where to start."

The beginning of a new project is play-time for grown-ups. It is about exploring your room and gathering the details that will build your vision; it is about looking at colors and touching textures then imagining them in different shapes; it is about deciding what resources will fit perfectly. I am always one phone call away and happy to listen to your ideas, ask you questions to help narrow choices, and only make suggestions -- if asked. Best of all I will construct your project with great care, incorporating all your hopes and desires!

When you call we explore your project by thinking about the following questions:
  1. Think of one particular room.
    1. How do you refer to this room?
    2. How do you use this room?
  2. Stand in the doorway and look at the existing furniture.
    1. What do I want to accomplish with this project?
    2. Function: curtains or shades?
    3. Comfort: additional sitting, more pillows?
    4. Style: make the room more relaxed or more formal?
    5. Change the color? Add new texture?
  3. Curtains can change the character of your room.
    1. Light: how much light will come in?
    2. Isolation: are there drafts or too much sun exposure?
    3. The landscape: separate or incorporate the landscape outside the window?
    4. Volume: what is space around the window? Flowing, abundant fabric or beautifully fitted fabric, framed by the window frame?
  4. Slipcovers can impact the flow of your room?
    1. Pattern: do you want to draw attention?
    2. Solid color: do you want to simply blend with the décor?
    3. Comfort: new foam inside the sitting cushions?
    4. Convenience: is the texture of wrinkles from washing acceptable?

Was this fun? I hope so. I hope you are excited, as excited as I get each time I speak to a client. Please call me as soon as you have a few minutes. I can't wait to hear about your project.
